what a perfect little baby Asher is. He was happy and expressive and up for anything we wanted him to do for his portrait session. I can’t decide who he looks more like, his mom or dad. When his mom holds him, he looks just like her and when his dad holds him, he looks like a mini version of daddy. What do you think? Pretty cute kid right?

I am also very lucky to be photographing Asher every few months which is so much fun with such a happy and expressive baby with so much personality. And just look at those gorgeous blue eyes. Thank you so much Brooke for bringing the little guy in! I look forward to seeing Asher in a couple more months, I think we are going to do something outdoors!

This is sweet little Sawyer and she gets to come see me every few months because her mama has invested in the baby collection with sprout photo. It is so much fun for me to see her and how much she grows every couple of months. And I am so happy that her mama will be able to remember all those first year changes forever through our photography.

Thank you Sharla and Sawyer for being so so wonderful! And thanks again for the lovely set of wings you gave us for the studio! We will definitely use them!

After talking to the mama of these sweet little ones on the phone, listening to her gush over their cuteness, hearing about their upcoming trip to Utah and the great ideas she had for their session, I was SO excited for this session in their beautiful home in Deer Valley, Utah. I couldn’t have asked for a more beautiful day and a more welcoming family! From the minute I walked in the door, I felt like an old friend as we chased these little ones around to capture this precious time in their lives. I even was able to be there for them to hang out in the snow for one of the first times ever…SO cute!! It was so fun to watch them interact, each of them with such a distinct look and personality, as well as both of them basking in the adoration of not only mom and dad, but aunt and grandparents too! It was obvious these girls are very much loved, as it should be.

A big thank you to the Kercher and Belnick families for their warm welcome…I can’t wait to see you all again next year, and see how much your beautiful girls have grown!

Wow, what a great year we had in 2010! We got to see many children and families that we work with year after year as well as met many new smiling faces that we hope to continue seeing each year. We thought it would be a lot of fun to take a look at all of our portrait sessions from 2010 and share our favorite images from our sessions throughout the year. There are so many that we will be posting these images in 5 different posts over the next week, so check back every day to see all the sweet faces we have been so fortunate to know this past year. i had the privilege of meeting baby b while he was brand new still in the hospital and for a session in our studio…it is amazing how babies change every single day when they are that young! anyway, I loved photographing his cute little toesies (i confess, i HATE adult feet..if walking wouldn’t be so difficult, I’d say do away with them all together…but baby and kids feet, I adore! Nothing much is cuter than a brand new babies feet!) Anyway, about a week later we were lucky enough to have him visit the studio, and got a few more of his preciousness! I really do love my job, I get to snuggle newborns just long enough to get rid of my baby wants, then send them home while I get a good night’s sleep..it’s a perfect setup.

Thank you to Holly and Jeremy for having me photograph sweet baby b…he is a beautiful addition to your already beautiful family!

If you are expecting, contact us about a month before your due date so we can get you on our schedule, then we will arrange when your lil’ one decides to make their entrance!

sleepytime session, part deux | sprout photo

Maybe I’m a little biased, but aren’t these 2 of the cutest girls in the whole entire world?

Ok, I’ll admit, these are two of my nieces, and I’m thrilled they came to our sleepytime session! It was cute to watch them interact, and fun to think about the fact that pretty soon, there is going to be another little girl in this mix! So excited for my brother and sister-in-law and cannot wait to meet their little one!

Just a quick reminder for our next couple Out and About sessions, we have October 15th set for doggie day and also October 16th at the Ogden Train Station. What do I love more than meeting new clients? Returning clients, that’s what! I had the privilege of photographing this sweet family last year..and it was so fun to meet up again and see just how much they’ve grown (and they have seriously grown!). And for an extra bonus, they brought along their extended family who is SO much fun, they had me laughing the whole time!

In all honesty, I really didn’t think this session was going to happen. Driving up to Park City, it started pouring. Not just sprinkles (I’m not afraid of a few sprinkles!), we’re talking an inch of standing water on the freeway, raining. Lightning kept flashing and with every rumble of thunder, I was a little more disappointed that this session was going to have to be called off. I just kept driving, trying to think of places we could hide under for some pictures if necessary…Fast forward to 15 minutes later, you would have never known there was even a storm! Blue skies, mild perfect temperatures and a whole lot of grateful people! So glad we were able to shoot that day!

This beautiful mama-to-be is my niece, chelsea and her husband matt! I had the privilege of photographing her when I went to visit the stoker family in idaho this past month. It’s so fun to see parents that are expecting for the first time..the anticipation, the unknown…and how much I know their lives are going to change forever, in the best ways possible! That sweet baby boy in her belly is going to make me a Great-Aunt! Not sure how I feel about that title, but I’m excited to meet him!

heather and I have been friends since 4th grade, forming an instant bond over four-square when she was the only one that would play with me at recess, hahaha…I have so many fun memories of us growing up together, from Indian Bread to the many H & K’s businesses that we started in her basement. (I still find it hard to believe that our fashion design business didn’t take off…we had some solid skills for sure!)

Through the years, we’ve always stayed in touch, sometimes well…sometimes not so well. But every time one of us picks up the phone to call one another, it’s like we never skipped a beat. I’m so grateful for her friendship through the years, and was so honored to be able to be a part of this beautiful experience.

Heather had a really long labor, but was a trooper throughout!

Once she was ready to push, however, that went really quickly! One contraction and baby Sawyer was introduced to the world!

I’ve never been in a delivery room for a birth other than my own babies, so it was kinda neat to see what they did right after she had him..the washing and weighing, etc…

As daddy was getting ready to make the phone calls sharing the good news with the families, he wrote the stats as to not forget.

And mama seeing her baby and getting to hold him for the first time is just a magical moment.

When the mom of this family emailed me, I was so excited to be able to photograph her family, and to meet her! I’ve known her online for a few years now, and she’s always been so helpful as I was starting out on this crazy photography journey I’ve been on! One of the best parts of photography is the awesome community…I’ve met (and not met technically, just online) some of the best people through it and I am so grateful for that!

Her little (big) family was so much fun, kept me laughing, and although I can’t prove it, I’m pretty sure I was given bunny ears behind my head at least 100 times during the course of the session.

So Nan, thanks for the chance to photograph your beautiful family, and I hope you like your sneak peek! I’ll be in touch with the rest of your images!

Sprout Out and About Sessions!

I’m SO excited to be announcing our next Sprout Out and About session, and also including the schedule for the remainder of 2010!

Our next session will be held on August 7th up in beautiful Park City on the property of the White Barn. The property has a beautiful barn on it, and is surrounded by beautiful greenery and the backdrop of the Wasatch Mountains. The image after the break was taken up there last year, and it’s by far one of my favorite locations to shoot! (and a side note, I’ll be photographing this cute little family again next month…so excited to see them again and see how their little ones have grown!)

These sessions are about 45 minutes long for $50, which is a third of our normal on-location session fee…I will be shooting from 9am to 7pm with a limited amount of spaces available, so call soon at 801-244-2778!

I’ve been looking forward to this family session for such a long time..see, the mama in this cute family is Aubrey, who does all of the cute family movies with me. We’ve worked together so much the last year, I was so happy to be able to be the photographer for her own family session! When she told me her vision for the session as in a wheat field and dreamy, I was completely on board!

I also have to admit I have a soft spot for this adorable family..the dad grew up across the street from my husband, and is also good friends with my brother, so I’ve known him for years and years, and it’s been great getting to know Aubrey better and better since we’ve been working together…they are just a sweet, genuine family that loves each other and loves to have fun together..my kind of people!

Day in the life of my babe | Sprout Photo

The other morning I woke up a little early, and to no surprise, I had a little visitor in my bed with me…See, pretty much every night our little Lukie sneaks into bed with us, and since my husband leaves for work pretty early in the morning, I really don’t mind an extra snuggler hanging out with me! Anyway, he wasn’t feeling like he wanted to get out of bed, so I went and got my camera and started snapping away….then thought, why stop here? I’m going to document his whole day….so this slideshow was born!

I can’t express the way my heart swells to watch this simple slideshow…Hanging out with my sweet boy, watching him each moment for an entire day, I feel like I fell in love with him over and over 1000 times that day, and definitely learned about seeing the world through the eyes of a toddler, where everything is possible, you just have to figure out how to do it. I admire the way he looks at life through those wide eyes of wonder with a smile on his face…and I hope to be more like him!

It was such a privilege having this sweet one in the studio this past week…he’s my nephew! This little guy made me an aunt for the 27th time (my dear husband comes from large family!) So glad I was able to capture him at this precious young age…he’s very much loved by his brothers and sisters and the rest of our family!

And a reminder if you’re wanting newborn portraits, they are best when done within the first ten days after being born, so call us when you know you’re expecting, and we’ll get you on the calendar, then set a firm date once your precious little one makes his/her appearance!

I met with the Crandall family on a beautiful afternoon up at Mueller Park, and we definitely lucked out with nice weather with all of the crazy weather that’s been going on around these parts! We had such a great time, Mom and Dad were full of jokes, the kids were hilarious and the grand kids were just beautiful! I feel so honored to have captured these family portraits for them, as they haven’t had a whole family portrait in over 15 years! I’m a huge advocate of getting regular family pictures, my own are so priceless to me, and I hope these end up that way for the Crandall family!
