So excited to share this session from one of our bedtime shoots…they are quickly becoming one of my favorites from each year, maybe we’ll have to have a few dates for them next year!

I knew little Nora from her family session last year and when her mom suggested we get her family together for this shoot, I was so excited. It was amazing how much Nora had grown, and all of her cousins were so polite and
such sweet girls…just a lovely family to be around! Lots of giggling and sisterly “love”. It was a blast.

In other news, I wanted to remind everyone that we are starting to book fall family sessions! We expect to be very busy this year, so I recommend getting your session scheduled soon. We will also be having a few Sprout Out and About dates specifically for family sessions on September 17th, October 15th on location and November 12th in studio. Out and About Bedtime Shoot

For those of you who haven’t checked our calendar on our website, we wanted to let you know we are having our very popular “Bedtime in a Field” Out and About portrait day. This Saturday July 9th we will be shooting at Wheeler Farm. We will bring the bed, you bring your little ones in their jammies. After talking to the mama of these sweet little ones on the phone, listening to her gush over their cuteness, hearing about their upcoming trip to Utah and the great ideas she had for their session, I was SO excited for this session in their beautiful home in Deer Valley, Utah. I couldn’t have asked for a more beautiful day and a more welcoming family! From the minute I walked in the door, I felt like an old friend as we chased these little ones around to capture this precious time in their lives. I even was able to be there for them to hang out in the snow for one of the first times ever…SO cute!! It was so fun to watch them interact, each of them with such a distinct look and personality, as well as both of them basking in the adoration of not only mom and dad, but aunt and grandparents too! It was obvious these girls are very much loved, as it should be.

A big thank you to the Kercher and Belnick families for their warm welcome…I can’t wait to see you all again next year, and see how much your beautiful girls have grown!

oh baby!

And….we’re back to normal blogging, hooray!

I was so happy to have this sweet little one with her proud mama and daddy in the studio this past week…it’s always so fun to watch the parents so completely enamored over their baby girl (as you can see in the pictures), and so gentle (note the baby sticker on the side of her leg that neither one of them could bear to rip off of her)..I just love it. I can’t wait to watch her grow up in the next sessions I’ll have with her!

And just a little news, we have some exciting schtuff in the works for 2011, including more Out and About dates that were a big hit last year and a few other things, and we’ll keep you updated on the blog and our Sprout newsletter (sign up here!)

fall is absolutely one of my favorite seasons for a number of reasons, COLOR being pretty close to the top of that list! It’s been so gorgeous these past few months, I was thrilled to meet this cute family up millcreek canyon for their session.

And just a warning for future clients…When I ask you to do an armshelf pose, then tell you I’m going to blog the aforementioned armself pose picture, I’m pretty much not kidding.

I realize it’s been a bit quiet on the blog front lately, so here’s a little glimpse of what we’ve been doing, and we have a lot more previews to come!

i was so excited when I got the call to do this shoot…their family was all coming in from all over the country to celebrate great-grandma’s birthday together, and danna had the great idea to have a shoot while they were all together. I was so happy to capture the entire family together…to watch their interaction with each other…the love, the teasing…they were so fun and had me laughing the whole time.

It was so great to meet you all, I’m glad you had a good time here in Utah, and maybe I’ll see you again if you decide to come back!

i had the privilege of meeting baby b while he was brand new still in the hospital and for a session in our studio…it is amazing how babies change every single day when they are that young! anyway, I loved photographing his cute little toesies (i confess, i HATE adult feet..if walking wouldn’t be so difficult, I’d say do away with them all together…but baby and kids feet, I adore! Nothing much is cuter than a brand new babies feet!) Anyway, about a week later we were lucky enough to have him visit the studio, and got a few more of his preciousness! I really do love my job, I get to snuggle newborns just long enough to get rid of my baby wants, then send them home while I get a good night’s sleep..it’s a perfect setup.

Thank you to Holly and Jeremy for having me photograph sweet baby b…he is a beautiful addition to your already beautiful family!

If you are expecting, contact us about a month before your due date so we can get you on our schedule, then we will arrange when your lil’ one decides to make their entrance!

I met with the super cute Strand family on a beautiful late summer morning up in park city..I adored little E immediately, so full of energy, telling me all about everything in his world…I love listening to little ones talk, I learn a lot! We had some fun playing a little baseball and hanging out, he even was my awesome helper when mom and dad needed a little help smiling for their picture. Strand family, it was great to meet you!

Meet the petersen family..another client that I’m so happy came back to me from last year! Little J has grown SO much..it’s always amazing to me for some reason..I mean, MY kids haven’t grown that much in the past year, right? (haha) We had a ton of fun, basically chasing him around for a few hours, watching him explore and run in all of his almost 2 year old glory!

Thanks you guys for hanging out and having fun with me for this session, can’t wait to see you again!

sleepytime session, part deux | sprout photo

Maybe I’m a little biased, but aren’t these 2 of the cutest girls in the whole entire world?

Ok, I’ll admit, these are two of my nieces, and I’m thrilled they came to our sleepytime session! It was cute to watch them interact, and fun to think about the fact that pretty soon, there is going to be another little girl in this mix! So excited for my brother and sister-in-law and cannot wait to meet their little one!

Just a quick reminder for our next couple Out and About sessions, we have October 15th set for doggie day and also October 16th at the Ogden Train Station. Logan and I were sooooooo very excited for these sleepytime sessions that we had planned, and they turned out to be so much fun! Thanks to everyone for showing up in their cute jammies and having a little fun with us for a little while!

This sweet little thing is a dear friends’ daughter…isn’t she adorable? Although she was a little apprehensive at first (I mean, it’s not like it’s out of the ordinary to have a bed in the middle of a clearing outside, right??) I’m so happy with the images we were able to capture.

What do I love more than meeting new clients? Returning clients, that’s what! I had the privilege of photographing this sweet family last year..and it was so fun to meet up again and see just how much they’ve grown (and they have seriously grown!). And for an extra bonus, they brought along their extended family who is SO much fun, they had me laughing the whole time!

In all honesty, I really didn’t think this session was going to happen. Driving up to Park City, it started pouring. Not just sprinkles (I’m not afraid of a few sprinkles!), we’re talking an inch of standing water on the freeway, raining. Lightning kept flashing and with every rumble of thunder, I was a little more disappointed that this session was going to have to be called off. I just kept driving, trying to think of places we could hide under for some pictures if necessary…Fast forward to 15 minutes later, you would have never known there was even a storm! Blue skies, mild perfect temperatures and a whole lot of grateful people! So glad we were able to shoot that day!

This beautiful mama-to-be is my niece, chelsea and her husband matt! I had the privilege of photographing her when I went to visit the stoker family in idaho this past month. It’s so fun to see parents that are expecting for the first time..the anticipation, the unknown…and how much I know their lives are going to change forever, in the best ways possible! That sweet baby boy in her belly is going to make me a Great-Aunt! Not sure how I feel about that title, but I’m excited to meet him!

A few weeks ago I had a chance to go to Idaho to visit with my sister-in-law and her family, and while there I took some family pictures for them! (Also a maternity session for my cute niece, which will be coming up in the next week or so…she has a super cute little bump, and that little guy is going to make me a Great-Aunt…Craziness!)

They are such a sweet, genuine family…full of love and laughter. I always feel right at home visiting them….and always leave thinking that I should probably move to Idaho!

The cute mama in this family and I go way back…spending a lot of time together as teenagers, and is someone I will always consider a friend! Another thing I love about doing what I do is that it gives old friends and I a reason to get together!

It was so great seeing Lisa and her cute little family…Her little boy was so serious, I couldn’t crack him! Glad I was able to catch him in a few moments of joy with his parents…those times are what life is all about!

La Caille is an award winning restaurant located at the base of Little Cottonwood Canyon. The grounds of La Caille consist of luscious gardens and walkways with ponds and streams running throughout. There are bunnies and peacocks, chickens and roosters all roaming about. It truly is a wonderful setting for family, senior, and children portraits.

Our ‘Out and About’ sessions are special $50, 45 minute sessions instead of our normal $150 price for an on-location session. This is a serious value! We look forward to hearing from you! 801-244-2778

heather and I have been friends since 4th grade, forming an instant bond over four-square when she was the only one that would play with me at recess, hahaha…I have so many fun memories of us growing up together, from Indian Bread to the many H & K’s businesses that we started in her basement. (I still find it hard to believe that our fashion design business didn’t take off…we had some solid skills for sure!)

Through the years, we’ve always stayed in touch, sometimes well…sometimes not so well. But every time one of us picks up the phone to call one another, it’s like we never skipped a beat. I’m so grateful for her friendship through the years, and was so honored to be able to be a part of this beautiful experience.

Heather had a really long labor, but was a trooper throughout!

Once she was ready to push, however, that went really quickly! One contraction and baby Sawyer was introduced to the world!

I’ve never been in a delivery room for a birth other than my own babies, so it was kinda neat to see what they did right after she had him..the washing and weighing, etc…

As daddy was getting ready to make the phone calls sharing the good news with the families, he wrote the stats as to not forget.

And mama seeing her baby and getting to hold him for the first time is just a magical moment.

When the mom of this family emailed me, I was so excited to be able to photograph her family, and to meet her! I’ve known her online for a few years now, and she’s always been so helpful as I was starting out on this crazy photography journey I’ve been on! One of the best parts of photography is the awesome community…I’ve met (and not met technically, just online) some of the best people through it and I am so grateful for that!

Her little (big) family was so much fun, kept me laughing, and although I can’t prove it, I’m pretty sure I was given bunny ears behind my head at least 100 times during the course of the session.

So Nan, thanks for the chance to photograph your beautiful family, and I hope you like your sneak peek! I’ll be in touch with the rest of your images!

Sprout Out and About Sessions!

I’m SO excited to be announcing our next Sprout Out and About session, and also including the schedule for the remainder of 2010!

Our next session will be held on August 7th up in beautiful Park City on the property of the White Barn. The property has a beautiful barn on it, and is surrounded by beautiful greenery and the backdrop of the Wasatch Mountains. The image after the break was taken up there last year, and it’s by far one of my favorite locations to shoot! (and a side note, I’ll be photographing this cute little family again next month…so excited to see them again and see how their little ones have grown!)

These sessions are about 45 minutes long for $50, which is a third of our normal on-location session fee…I will be shooting from 9am to 7pm with a limited amount of spaces available, so call soon at 801-244-2778!
