I was absolutely honored to be selected to document the birth of Anna & Kent Findlay’s third son, Ryder Cole Findlay! We started the day off early at 7am at the University of Utah Hospital. Anna was doing really well, and she and Kent spent the morning laughing and planning Ryder’s future.

Ryder Cole Findlay, born after 7 hours of labor

Ryder was having trouble breathing, and a crew of 6 doctors was working on him within 2 minutes of his birth.

Little Ryder was rushed to the Infant ICU before his parents had a chance to hold him or even to see him.

Anna was understandably upset, and made the remark that she didn’t even know what her son looked like.

As the photographer with 2 cameras, the solution was immediate! Anna later said that being able to see the pictures of Ryder on my camera immediately brought her stress level down and brought a sense of peace to her heart. I’m so glad I could help!

Inside the ICU, Ryder was getting the royal treatment! the staff there said they rarely see a full-term baby and so it was a treat for them!

At last, Anna gets to hold her newborn son!

Wow! That’s incredible.

I never thought of the hospital as a place that you could take pics like this that could tell so much.

Thanks for the pics! Anna and Kent, you are really good subjects! Ryder too!
