%utah wedding photographer %wedding photojournalism || Its a new year and what better way to kick off 2013 than with something adventurous and unusual. Jacqui and David tied the not atop a nearly 10,000 foot high Wasatch mountain peak on New Years Day and yours truly jumped in the helicopter with them to document it! The groomsmen went up first to pack down a bit of snow, lay down a runner for the bride to walk down, and set up a flower arch overlooking a vista so beautiful that it was surreal. Along with her gown, Jacqui wore white gloves and snowboard boots. Why snowboard boots? So they could board down the mountain and begin their life together with a jaunt through 5 feet of Utah’s famous blow-powder! Not for the faint of heart, but oh so good. Many thanks to Diamond Peaks Heli Ski Adventures for getting us all there in safety and style!

%utah wedding photographer %wedding photojournalism || Well the weather is turning cold here in Utah so its about time to start looking at weddings in that OTHER season – the one without green trees.

Erin and Jason wanted to escape New York for a mountain-top winter wedding, and that’s just what they got. And snow. LOT’s of snow.

Canyon’s Red Pine Lodge provides warm and cozy shelter from the white beauty of Park City’s main product, and they danced up a storm to rival the one raging outside.

%utah wedding photographer %wedding photojournalism ||A couple weeks ago, Brian flew his girlfriend Leslie out to Park City for a week of skiing and her birthday celebration.  He also had planned to propose to her on her birthday, but she had no idea.  Since Leslie is a photographer herself back in Alabama where the couple is from, he knew how important it would be to her to have photographs of the event.

%utah wedding photographer %wedding photojournalism ||I had such a fun time playing in the snow up in Park City with Kim and Ray.  They were up for tromping through the snow, getting wet socks and all, but I think the image we got was so worth it!  I just love aspen trees year round, there isn’t a season in which they don’t look awesome.

Kim and Ray just look perfect framed among all of those black and white trunks. Thanks Kim and Ray for being such great sports in the wet snow! Continue reading

%utah wedding photographer %wedding photojournalism || Elise & Russ both work for an airline – he a pilot and she in management. In fact they met while Russ was representing the labor union…across the negotiating table from each other. I was going to say something here about politics making for strange bed-fellows but I totally restrained myself. Whew, that was close!

So where do two Phoenix-based jet-setters that get free air-fare to anywhere in the world decide to have their wedding?

Beautiful Park City, of course!

Ryan and I had the privilege of shooting this great couple a few weeks ago. Here’s part 1 – part 2 on Saturday.

%utah wedding photographer %wedding photojournalism || Well since we’re stuck here in winter for a few more weeks we might as well celebrate it. I can’t think of a better way than to share this gorgeous album from McCall & Ryan’s December sealing the Salt Lake Temple that culminated in a stunning winter reception at Sundance Resort!

McCall had a lot of images to pare it down from: we did an engagement session, a bridal AND groomal session, the temple sealing and the reception. The only thing to do was go BIG! So here we have a 12×16 inch, 100-side beauty dolled up in McCall’s own inspired combination of gold ostrich and copper metallic leathers. As beautiful as it looks here, this album really needs to be seen in person to be fully appreciated. Its positively decadent! %utah wedding photographer %wedding photojournalism ||

%utah wedding photographer %wedding photojournalism || Today is Whitnee and Nick’s big day! Their Ultimate Utah Wedding will be taking place first with a ceremony at the Salt Lake City Temple in the daytime and then their reception will be tonight at The Tower at Rice Eccles Stadium. Ryan and I will be with them all day and I am so excited to see how all of the chosen vendors will come together to create Nick and Whitnee’s dream wedding!

We did their groomal session a couple weeks ago and I have been so excited to post these shots, but I had to wait until today. We spent part of the day out at a riding stable in Bluffdale where Whitnee was able to ride the horse of her choice. It was awfully chilly but I think it was worth it. We got some shots both serene and hilarious! The rest of the time was spent downtown Salt Lake City indoors at the Rio Grande train station where the two were able to warm up and really relax with the camera. These two really are a fun, loving, photogenic, and sexy couple. Thanks N & W! You two rock!

Check back soon to see the photos from their Ultimate Utah Wedding!
