%utah wedding photographer %wedding photojournalism ||Occasionally we’ll have a client ask for something different.  Something out of the box.

Marisa & Mickey had seen a few stop-motion videos used as ‘Save the Date’ notes floating around the web and asked if we could do that for them.  Now I havn’t played with stop-motion since high school (I seem to remember it involved a lot of dismembered clay people), but I’m not one to avoid a challenge.

Someone (probably a thief) once said that good artists borrow while great artists steal – so, M & M took some ideas they found out there, added a few touches of their own and asked us to make it happen.

Please to enjoy!

%utah wedding photographer %wedding photojournalism || Here are a few of my favorites from Leah and Dean’s engagement session we had downtown Salt Lake City. Their wedding reception will be held in a renovated warehouse type building in Evanston Wyoming, so the urban landscape of downtown was perfect for their engagements. Thanks Leah and Dean! I hada great time and I can’t wait for the Bridals and the Wedding day!

%utah wedding photographer %wedding photojournalism ||Oh man, I have REALLY been a blogging slacker the last couple of months! I’m starting off a big push to catch up on sessions with this hella-fun session I shot with Noelle and Gharzai.

Noelle and Garzai are both very stylish people. In fact they both work – and met – at a certain famous swanky department store.

Because their work environment has been such an important backdrop to their relationship, they thought it would be fun to see if they could use it for their engagement session.

The asked and management said yes!

From there, a story just naturally unfolded…

%utah wedding photographer %wedding photojournalism || Well since we’re stuck here in winter for a few more weeks we might as well celebrate it. I can’t think of a better way than to share this gorgeous album from McCall & Ryan’s December sealing the Salt Lake Temple that culminated in a stunning winter reception at Sundance Resort!

McCall had a lot of images to pare it down from: we did an engagement session, a bridal AND groomal session, the temple sealing and the reception. The only thing to do was go BIG! So here we have a 12×16 inch, 100-side beauty dolled up in McCall’s own inspired combination of gold ostrich and copper metallic leathers. As beautiful as it looks here, this album really needs to be seen in person to be fully appreciated. Its positively decadent! %utah wedding photographer %wedding photojournalism ||

%utah wedding photographer %wedding photojournalism ||Julianne and Weston will be getting married in Salt Lake City Temple this February. So we have been venturing out into the crisp cold weather for their engagement and groomal sessions. We had such a great engagement shoot on this chilly winter day. Even in January, Utah can be such a beautiful setting for a handsome couple to take their portraits.

We started at the base of the little cottonwood canyon on the grounds of La Caille. It was an unplanned stop on our way up the canyon, so I want to thank the ladies at La Caille for letting us stop by for a few shots. We sensed a storm rolling in so we hurried up the canyon’s winding road trying to beat the snowfall. It worked for a little while. We were able to play with Tahoe, Julianne’s gorgeous golden retriever. He had so much fun romping in the snow. He liked to jump in the air and catch snowballs in his mouth! Then heading up even further, the snow really began to blow! I just love how the snowflakes look frozen in motion against their dark coats. As cold as it was, the photos are so worth it! When the cold was just too much to bare anymore, we headed back down to the valley to find someplace where the snow wasn’t quickly falling. We ended up in our studio neighborhood, Sugar House where we had a fun time with a big red chair in a cool alley.

Thanks Julianne and Weston! I loved how these turned out! And your wedding is next week! Can’t wait! L, Logan

%utah wedding photographer %wedding photojournalism || Just playing catch up a bit here.

I appeared on Good Things Utah in support of the Ultimate Utah Wedding giveaway last week, but the video of Mitch on Good Things Utah wasn’t available in time to make it into our last post, but we wanted to include it here for posterity. I don’t set fire to the studio or anything!

Expand to view the full post for the embedded segment as well as the tag-along video that was produced for the show but never aired.

%utah wedding photographer %wedding photojournalism ||This is Kelsey and Jacob… such a fun couple! We had a great time up at Red Butte Garden shooting their engagement photos. They were great at forgetting I was around and just being comfortable with each other.

%utah wedding photographer %wedding photojournalism ||We’ve got a number of really fun weddings queued up to share with you but first…

As the weather has started to turn colder here in Utah, I thought I’d put up something from back when things were a bit warmer. Heather and Kyle live in California, but Heather’s family owns a simply stunning vacation home in the foothills of Park City. A large number of their holidays are spent here in Utah and they definitely have the mountain life in their blood.

So we decided to use the Kimball valley of Park City as our backdrop for these two and I am still in love with the colors that we were able to find. Come join us!

%utah wedding photographer %wedding photojournalism || I just shot Allison & Drew’s phenomenal wedding this past Saturday, and as I was starting to think about bloggin’ it, I realized that you all really needed the same introduction to this crazy-in-love couple that I had a little while back – their engagement session.

I feel that the perfect engagement session isn’t just about making a couple look cool, its about revealing something about who they are. Engagement sessions generally include just two people – namely the ones gettin’ hitched – and I’m always trying to capture images that speak about their relationship. But sometimes in this big complicated world a wedding is actually about families uniting, and in those cases it really is a marriage of more than two people. In such situations I find it only fitting that all of the characters of the love story are included. Such was the case with Allison and Drew, because the other member of their family is…
