Marisa & Mickey’s ‘Save The Date’ Video

Occasionally we’ll have a client ask for something different. Something out of the box.

Marisa & Mickey had seen a few stop-motion videos used as ‘Save the Date’ notes floating around the web and asked if we could do that for them. Now I havn’t played with stop-motion since high school (I seem to remember it involved a lot of dismembered clay people), but I’m not one to avoid a challenge.

Someone (probably a thief) once said that good artists borrow while great artists steal – so, M & M took some ideas they found out there, added a few touches of their own and asked us to make it happen.

So far 2010 is turning out to be ZumaPhoto‘s best year ever! We have been booking our summer and fall dates earlier and faster than we ever have before and we are stoked to be working with clients that have so much great energy!

As always though, Spring is the rather slow stepchild of our year….

Its not really something that photographers talk about much, but the truth is that wedding photography is highly seasonal, with the great majority of events taking place in the summer, autumn and winter months, and only a paltry few landing in spring. Well we decided to address that issue straight up and we think that we’re the first studio to do so.

Taking a cue from the many world-class ski resorts in the area, we thought that we’d hold a little experiment in market-demand pricing. We are pleased to announce the immediate availability of off-season pricing on local events that take place between

February 1 – May 15th, 2010

This limited time, special pricing that represents extraordinary savings over our standard rates. What’s more, both the full-day AND half-day packages come with the option to take the full-resolution files at no additional cost!

We are excited to be able to offer the opportunity to brides who might not otherwise be able to afford our services to have a genuine ZumaPhoto wedding!

For our part, it will keep us in practice (and out of trouble) as well as allowing us some opportunities to experiment with new techniques and creative ideas outside of pressure-cooker of the summer wedding rush! We think its a win-win and we’re excited to be offering this new concept to the Utah market.

Album Delivery Day – Alicia & Jay | ZumaPhoto

To some, a wedding album is simply a collection of photos. For us and our clients, however, the album represents the culmination of an ardent vision. Months to years of planning and sweating of details on the part of our clients; one compressed and emotionally charged day; countless hours shooting, editing, retouching, interpreting and designing our images of that day – all come together into the ultimate presentation of the memories that all that effort forged – the album.

At ZumaPhoto, the delivery of an album is the one time where all work stops and we take a moment to gather together in appreciation of the results of our efforts.

Today we’d like to share just a peek of our latest creation with you – the album of Alicia & Jay.

Over the years we’ve used many MANY different album binderies, and each has had its charms. But our current bindery not only produces the highest quality albums that I’ve ever seen, but also offers the widest selection of cover styles. We designed a cover for Alicia and Jay that maintains a perfect balance balance between classical elegance and forward thinking fashion (just like Zuma!)

Its just plain GORGEOUS!

Our albums are delivered wrapped in this beautiful presentation made from all recycled materials.

Here she is…

The cover material is this amazing gold metallic osterich leather with coppery eyelets.

The inset image of their first dance – one of their favorites – was toned to compliment the tones of the leather.
Now, it helps that Alicia is a Greek beauty and that Jay is a professional soccer player (GOOOOOOOAAAAAL!!!!)

Fit and finish quality of these albums is absolute perfection – astounding for a hand-mand product.

As one option, an absolute lay-flat binding may be specified.

On to a couple of our favorite spreads…

Jay is just a stud. That’s all there is to it. In his tux he looked like a young Clark Gable.
All of this would be really annoying if he didn’t have such an easy (and a little goofy) sense of humor. ;)

I was very touched (and a little sheepish) that Alicia & Jay insisted on including an image of me in their album.
I am honored and humbled when a client tells me that they consider me an intergral part of their wedding memories. Thanks guys!
